Associazione Sportiva Roma, commonly knows as AS Roma, is a professional Italian football club. Before 2012-13 season, the match jerseys for the club were provided by Kappa. After that, the club designed the shirts with RomaCares, a charitable organisation, by itself. In March 2013 AS Roma and Nike signed a ten-year contract. Therefore, Nike became the new supplier and would provide football shirts and other related football products for the club, starting with the 2014-15 season.
Traditionally, the color of the home shirts is Tyrian purple(Tyrian red) and gold, which gives AS Roma their nickname “I Giallorossi(“The Yellow and Reds”). Unveiled by Nike and AS Roma, the 2017-18 home shirt continues the tradition of the club and is predominately red with gold elements. The purple-red and gold not only represent Roman imperial dignity but also remind fans and players of the club’s profound culture and past victories. It features a modern and simple round collar with a golden yellow trim. There is the slogan “Roma siamo noi(We are Roma)” inside the collar, encouraging players to perform well at football fields. Nike Swoosh and the club crest are shown on the chest. The club crest portrays the female wolf with the two infant brothers Romulus and Remus that is associated with the founding of Rome. “ROMA” and “1927” are also included in the badge.
Designers took advantage of Nike’s innovative AeroSwift technology to ensure players get a more comfortable shirt so they can focus on games and do their best.
The shorts are the same color as the home shirt. Black socks feature Nike Swoosh and “AS ROMA” in gold, too.
Founded in 1927 and located in Roma, Italy, AS Roma currently competes in Serie A and once won three championships of the competition.
Both AS Rome and Società Sportiva Lazio S.p.A.(Lazio) play their home games at the Stadio Olimpico, with a capacity of more than 72,000 spectators, making it the second-largest stadium in Italy after San Siro.
